S.I.C.K. RACING // Recovered
A downloadable game for Windows
SICK RACING
"The year is 20XX and corporations control everything, except for our love for SPEED. Its time to take back our city, one block at a time."
At least, that is what the start of the marketing copy was going to be for this game that never saw the light of day.
What we have here is a recovered demo development cartridge compatible with the SICK Konsole, but a cartridge that reveals something more that was going on behind the scenes. After careful and meticulous rebuilding on decrypting of the binaries, and by calling up some people who lived in the area at the time, we've discovered that this game had very goals, and was hiding a secret.
Originally conceived as a launch title for the ill-fated SICK Mobile Console (SICK-MC), SICK RACING set out with an ambitious goal to bring cutting-edge 3D graphics to a console you could hold in your hands. The SICK-MC supposedly was capable of running for 20 to 40 minutes before needing another 8 D batteries added to keep it going.
Along with this demo cartridge, we found some old development screenshots of the prototypes of the handheld itself.

Submitted for the 2025 Indie City Games Super Indie City Konsole game jam.
